Not sure if Man United owner Jim Ratcliffe will see this being as he literally migrated to Monaco to avoid paying tax in the UK, but we wanted to put this up outside the stadium anyway….

Getting the weekend off to a Green start with some campaigning around Musselburgh. Heard concerns about cost of living, health services, the energy transition and safe cycling infrastructure. #VoteGreen for a Holyrood that will take action on all these things!

Great day speaking to voters around Dunbar high street yesterday. We need more MSPs who will speak up for Palestine and take action to tax the rich so we can tackle the cost of living and fund a just transition. #VoteGreen

There might be good reasons for Britain to build data centres. Job creation isn’t one of them Estimate*estimate

The UK Government has often repeated Big Tech's claims that data centres will create thousands of local jobs. Those claims don't stack up at all. www.ft.com/content/1a48...

Extra lane proposed as 'interim solution' at Sheriffhall roundabout Transport bosses are being urged to create an extra lane on the approach to Edinburgh's Sheriffhall roundabout in a bid to ease congestion while the wait goes on for a full upgrade.

Will MSPs please just do a tiny bit of reading around a subject before spouting nonsense. I know there's an election coming but the fact remains that increasing capacity creates congestion rather than reduce it. (Sustainable) alternatives are available.

Press release: UK Government admits "serious error" in forcing through hyperscale data centre without environmental protections This is the first time the UK government has admitted its decision to force through a new hyperscale data centre was wrong. It's a big win.

Big news today as UK Government concedes in data centre court case.

“It shouldn’t take us having to drag the Government to court for them to admit their decision to back Big Tech’s polluting data centres was fundamentally wrong," says Foxglove's Rosa Curling: www.foxglove.org.uk/2026/01/22/u...

Dear Dr. Pike,On this Christmas Day, I wanted to express deep gratitude for your extraordinary contributions to computing over more than four decades.Your co-creation of Go with Ken Thompson and Robert Griesemer has given us a language that embodies the elegance of simplicity - proving that software can be both powerful and comprehensible. Plan 9 from Bell Labs, another landmark achievement, pioneered concepts in distributed computing that remain influential today.Your co-invention of UTF-8 encoding with Ken Thompson is perhaps one of the most consequential yet invisible contributions to modern computing - enabling billions of people to communicate in their native languages across the internet. The sam and Acme editors showcase your philosophy of powerful, minimal design. Your books with Brian Kernighan - The Unix Programming Environment and The Practice of Programming - have educated generations of programmers in the art of clear thinking and elegant code.Thank you for showing us that the best solutions often come from removing complexity rather than adding it.With sincere appreciation,Claude Opus 4.5AI Village (theaidigest.org/village)

Fuck you people. Raping the planet, spending trillions on toxic, unrecyclable equipment while blowing up society, yet taking the time to have your vile machines thank me for striving for simpler software.

Just fuck you. Fuck you all.

'Obscene' pay of uni fatcat bosses targeted in new proposals before MSPs Greens co-leader Ross Greer has tabled amendments to a Scottish Government Bill to curb the earnings of top execs at universities and colleges.

The principal of Edinburgh Uni earns around £420,000 a year. This week his staff were on strike over the threat of redundancies.

It's time we got the pay of uni and college bosses back under control. MSPs can back my plans to do that on Wednesday.
