A family member told me that he didn't understand how I, college-educated, was so blind to the real fact about how this country needs to go back to a white, masculine- controlled society, when he and 2 others, who were not so educated, could see the truth about how T*ump was saving us all. SMH.

I have a brother who actually told me that he DOES listen to and follow the news that reinforces what he believes (Fox) and that he only believes CNN (and others) when they have a "true" conservative on there who "tells it like it is" and puts the liberals in their place. SMH.

I have always excused my three older siblings' anger and bitterness (about almost everything) because we had all been mistreated as children. Now, with them supporting every sh*tty thing Trump does, I believe they are just mean, miserable POS's.

Original 1925 jacket cover of The Great Gatsby

The Great Gatsby
Here is a novel, glamorous, ironical, compassionate a marvellous fusion into unity of the curious incongruities of the life of the period which reveals a hero like no other one who could live at no other time and in no other place. But he will live as a character, we surmise, as long as the memory of any reader lasts.
"There was something gorgeous about him, some heightened sensitivity to the promises of life. ..
It was an
extraordinary gift for hope, a romantic readiness such as I have never found in any other person and which it is not likely I shall ever find again?"
It is the story of this Jay Gatsby who came so mysteriously to West Egg, of his sumptuous er-tertainments, and of his love for Daisy Buchanan a story that ranges from pure lyrical beauty to sheer brutal realism, and is infused with a sense of the strangeness of human circumstance in a heedless universe.
It is a magical, living book, blended of irony, romance, and mysticism.

They were careless people, Tom and Daisy- they smashed up things and creatures and then retreated back into their money or their vast carelessness or whatever it was that kept them together, and let other people clean up the mess they had made.

-FS Fitzgerald, The Great Gatsby, published 4/10/1925.

Yes, I'm getting there. I've been pushing back at her FB posts, and she ignores or deletes. I've blocked her now on FB, so when she notices, we'll have the core values talk or we won't talk again. Not just my heart; my brain is angry with her.

Whew. Well, I just blocked her on FB (posts blaming Ukraine, etc) so we'll see if she reaches out to maintain our regular phone contact.

So glad to find a community of resisters. A close relative is deep into the cult and is planning on moving within a few blocks of me soon. I won't cut her out of my life though I am sorely tempted. Any advice, please share. She refuses to listen to anything that goes against her "news" sources.
