Also so great to see a new #walkto link at Dawes & Vic Park delivered by my ops unit. Instead of just resodding a worn path, we addressed the real issue, a strong desire line. Not only did we resolve a long standing maintenance issue, but we improved accessibility and connectivity.

For one of the first times, I can share- I didnβt design, just repairing it. Should we order extra letters and revise it to say YONGE STREET NOT THE LONGEST STREET?

We are trying to turn up the dial generally on repairs large, small, simple and complex. Iβll work to post more about the most satisfying #fixTO repairs.

I canβt believe itβs been 7+ months since switching jobs. I like viewing my new maintenance role as an effort to restore the soul/pride of our city. This weekend we're fixing these concrete and letters - small details that have been broken for years. Itβs quieter work, but no less meaningful. #fixTO

When watching sports together makes you an accidental advocate for more pedestrian space. Cute scenes from Little Italy #walkto

Sorry missed this. @kayehm.bsky.social can expand, but you donβt need 2 signals (ie Sumach at Queen). But if one fails, the second ensures that the full signal doesnβt go into flash and continues to provide guidance to people cycling. Purposeful redundancy.

I totally agree. In Toronto, we donβt do snow removal every year and have a more modest fleet. We received 55 cm over two days, which is significant for TO- I donβt think this is the type of storm to judge our normal snow clearing operations.

This wasnβt a hit on Montreal! Montrealβs snow removal program is amazing. Just being grouchy because sometimes folks exaggerate the program and it can be difficult to have a realistic discussion.

Weird because almost every email I received over the past two weeks shared that Montrealβs sidewalks and bikeways were in better shape than Torontoβs π€·ββοΈ.

From building bikeways to clearing them. Nothing more satisfying than a well plowed bike lane #biketo
