Solo game dev. Glad to collaborate. Making a game about running around. Maybe in a city. Maybe with intelligent NPC and story. Godot, Blender, Trenchbroom are my friends. But I don't know how to use them.

It's funny that the dialog choices overlap the face.

Hello there. I'm still alive. Still playing around with the idea.
Big and complex city was trimmed down to linear levels. Just because it's easier to develop and iterate upon.
Also, I have a friend who can help me with level and game design. And it's just funnier to make a game with someone.
I was kinda sidetracked by learning Blender and 3D modelling at least enough to make simple things in it.

I know it's not too much but I'm glad I'm capable to do some easy 3d modelling, rigging and animation in Blender.

A little level block out and movement polish. Added ability to swing. Also tinkered a lot with materials, textures, shaders, light and many other things.

I think it's a little bit too much...

But I think I missed the main point of the question. Should we add an addictive features to improve non addictive games? Will it be a plus?
Commercially, I think, it will. It's easier to sell, easier to spread the world.
From another point of view... It might change the game mood drastically.
Of course it's just my thoughts with no "that's the truth" thinking. I don't want to call games addictive because I like to play them.

Can addictive game be good? Yes.
Should the good game be addictive? No.
Should the game have a good core loop you want to play and return to? Yes with caveats.
In those games I do stuff to see a result. I do not necessary like the process but I'm still going because I'm hooked on that "you have the score" thing or when numbers go up.

From my point of view
Balatro is addictive. Vampire Survivors is. I like to play them because they toggle some lightbulb on my head. Or some idle clicker.
Okay. Then we should define an addictiveness.
Playing Skyrim and thinking "oh just one more quest" and "one more try" in Sifu. Are they addictive? I think not.
As often it depends on definition. Corpos might say - yes.
I think - no. If I would want to be addicted to the game it would mean I have some issues in real life.
You don't want to Party?

Damn... That's harsh...
Don't give up!
But at least now I can spawn items in runtime from the menu. A bottle, for example...

What do you mean I need to think about the game style, theme and overall idea before making an UI for it?
