Heated Rivalry has quietly become one of Canada’s most potent cultural exports. The Walrus editorial fellow Amarah Hasham-Steele breaks down the numbers behind its staggering success and what they mean for Canadian soft power: https://thewalrus.ca/heated-rivalry-numbers/

What to watch this weekend: Anything but the Super Bowl, bro Two chess documentaries, the Muppets and a Radio-Canada comedy are here to distract you from the U.S. football bonanza

Based on the comments on my Don't Watch the Super Bowl column, it seems a lot of Canadians are, indeed, planning to skip it this year because... America.

Viewership was down 15% year-over-year in Canada for the 2025 edition compared to up 3% in the US. www.theglobeandmail.com/culture/film...

Carney Is the Crisis Manager Canada Needs - Macleans.ca The PM’s rousing Davos speech proves he can lead Canada—and maybe the world

"In the long run, the triumphant speech will not ensure Carney will be a successful prime minister. Everything depends on whether he can produce economic results for Canadians. For the moment, it still seems clear that he’s the best-placed person to try." macleans.ca/politics/car...

He inherited a $6-billion surplus from the Liberals and turned it into a record-breaking $13-billion deficit. How in the world do 40% of Quebecers still continue to trust the CAQ on the economy?

We actively take on the world as it is, not wait for a world we wish to be."
