This needs amplification! One thing they said in the video was about manufacturing consent, which got me to look up that book (and concept) and now I have to read more:

Truth first, philosopher, lawyer, student, military brat. On Substack: "philosophical thoughts, and 500 miles on the A.T." They/them: gender binary only props up the patriarchy (Photos: 2024 AT hike. Wolfe Island wind farm.)

Not stalking you! But I first discovered you thru the ducklings and your dad. Then I listened to some of your audiobooks. Sorry to now hear about the radiotherapy. I had chemo (and radiation) in 2008 and it wipes you out so the best thing to recover is rest, and more rest. All the best.
02.12.2025 13:20 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Iβm listening to the Starship Alexandria calendar but I didnβt know you were doing others!
02.12.2025 13:13 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0If you take a cognitive awareness test, and you believe it is an IQ test, you have failed both such tests.
01.12.2025 13:37 β π 8 π 1 π¬ 0 π 0I've been saying this all along. π―
01.12.2025 13:35 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0What we can, morally, disagree on are the categories and extent of what we define as βcommon goodsβ, or the things that everyone should have access to so they can be participating members of society.

It's about how democracy works and how we can make change within democracy.

It has always been about money (and money is power and fame). While people are obsessed about the Epstein stuff, they forget he was a money guy first. What Russia βhasβ on Trump is about money.

I thought this also, until I read @rebeccasolnit.bsky.social βs recent piece on exposing people for who they really are.
29.11.2025 13:04 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Thanks for sharing that article. I grew up in the 70s, hearing about the feminizing of law and medicine, like it was a bad thing. It hasnβt even been 100 years since women got the vote, so men are still getting over that. We just have to keep raising consciousnesses until those with power get it.
27.11.2025 14:45 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0This was great! Enjoyed the whole thing, especially the bit in the middle where they talk about not selling out to private equity/consolidation interests. And the interviews with people like Bill Withers were so good.
27.11.2025 11:56 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Reminds me of actors who say βIβm not a doctor, I just play one on tv.β He played a type on tv.
27.11.2025 11:41 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Private Benjamin. Perceived as a light comedy but really a feminist rebellion.
27.11.2025 11:32 β π 8 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0And itβs also about money laundering!
27.11.2025 11:12 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0This seems like something we should all be aware of.
26.11.2025 13:15 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0And! Thereβs more than just sex in the E. Files. He was a money guy. And there was money laundering with the Russians! I bet thereβs a ton of stuff about money that the elites donβt want people to see.
26.11.2025 12:06 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I think we should start using moral language to condemn this sort of behaviour. βThis is wrong.β Even when people are morally repugnant, they want to be seen as morally good, which is why they find excuses for their bigotry etc. Call them out. Donβt let them excuse their moral failings.
25.11.2025 13:21 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Agreed.
24.11.2025 12:17 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Thoughtful thread, even quoting Cultural Studies and Stuart Hall.
24.11.2025 12:11 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Authoritarians claim the power not just to tell all of our stories but to select the definitive story that says who we are, what our nature, why we're here, in order to cast themselves as both forever hero protagonists while also endlessly victimized.
23.11.2025 03:59 β π 287 π 81 π¬ 3 π 7So now I feel like I have to explain that *my* literalness is about whether something is true and real. Ha ha.
23.11.2025 13:23 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Interestingly, I always had trouble with word play and it took me a minute to get this!
23.11.2025 13:21 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0They got what they wanted:
1. access to government records
2. breaking the government so they could then say βsee? it doesnβt workβ and take over its profitable operations.
Social hierarchy societies succeed b/c they concentrate power in a few who wield it with violence against the many. Egalitarian societies are better for all but power is dispersed which allows someone to concentrate power. The trick is to keep power dispersed. This is our lesson.
21.11.2025 18:47 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Indeed. With clearer consequences for injustices and better definitions of injustice.
21.11.2025 13:58 β π 5 π 1 π¬ 0 π 0And Toto is a hero because he isnβt human and so goes straight for the truth that is grounded on reality and doesnβt get diverted by human equivocation.
