We have space telescopes that take amazing photos. Accepting any kind of flat earth at the same time.. it just shuts my mind off.

People accept that there are satellites, they get their weather info, internet access, cell and GPS from them. We have astronomers pointing huge telescopes looking at so many things, many man made devices, tracking things.

Let’s generalize a bit more.

When I took the top off, I could see the hard drive platters, and right on top was the clear impression of her father’s fingerprint.
So a nice little moment.
A connection.
I was thinking that even when we leave the world we leave something.
Even if it’s locked in a metaphorical box of memories.

I noticed that all of the screws were off the cover plate except for two which hint that somebody was having problems with the drive enough to open it, and just decided to leave only two screws in to make it easier to get in and out. I got out the ifixit set.

Today I was looking in the box of old computer stuff specifically at a huge 9lb Maxtor 300 MB scsi drive. Her Dad was into Next so I’m keen on imaging the drives contents using bluesSCSI or some other emulator. The Internet describes this drive specifically as the default hard drive for a next cube.

We spoke by phone and she asked if I wanted an apple II and some other stuff so of course, I said sure. I used an Apple II in college but don’t have one and still have all my old floppy diskettes which truly are “floppies” the bendable larger 5 1/4” disks where the name came from.

A friend of mine was walking with a friend who told her that her father had passed away and left a whole big pile of computer stuff. She heard the word Apple so she suggested my name.
