We cannot fight for our independence in the same way that america did to create this country because it was on the backs of indgienous people and stolen/trafficked African people.

As I learned today, the US didn't win it's freedom until October 19, 1781...and all its citizens weren't free until June 19th, 1865...and some even longer than that...and really is everyone free now?

But also, using history as a guide, has it helped this country? Isn't that how we got where we are? The country was founded upon colonization and genocide. You can't apply rules of old to get something new.

A little late in the season, but I've decided to plant a front yard garden. Guy down a little ways has one, and I was thinking...if everyone had a front yard garden that was community food, people could just take a walk and get something to eat for free.

It feels so much like the republican administration sees this all as some sort of game. I look at the pictures of everyone smiling and shaking hands. I can't imagine smiling and congratulating someone on causing death and suffering for millions. It's not a game. It's horrific.
