I'm sure they see the endless "well its not a real xbox" comments from die hard Xbox users in regards to PC or the recent ROG Xbox Ally.

They could always make another IP for something different.
People funded it because they wanted more Banjo-Kazooie. Also, I'm pretty sure there's ways to fix the experience that doesn't require having all movement options available from the get go. This just comes across as Playtonic selling a glorified New Game+ mode because it has nicer visuals.
