A replica of the original guard post is in the photo (the real one is in a museum). There is traffic all around as well as people standing and walking. High rise brutalist apartment buildings are in the background. There is a photo of a soldier posted at the checkpoint. The picture of the soldier at the site of Checkpoint Charlie today is the former US army tuba player Jeff Harper. His picture is part of a series of photographs, taken to commemorate the last Allied soldiers in Berlin in 1994.
