Today marks the anniversary of a choice but we prove it on the others. And you’ve proven to me that I made the right one.

But when I ask about your day, it’s not out of habit. When I make a choice, I know it’s not just mine. Because marriage also isn’t that hard if you just take the time.

And we can look back at our choices, knowing they’re ours. We can look back at the decisions we’ve made.

Marriage is work. But the paycheck is so much more rewarding than a transaction in a bank. And partnership comes at the personal cost of caring.

So here we are now, still at the start of our story, even if we aren’t who we were. And we still have no idea what’s coming.

Because eventually if you learn about somebody’s day enough, you start to know how their tomorrow will be. And instead of asking out of curiosity, you ask out of habit. Or you don’t ask.

When you see somebody for so long, sometimes you forget to see them at all.

And that’s why so many of them don’t work. In the moment we’re supposed to become one, we once again just become… one. But not a collective, just singular form.

See, marriage is routine. It’s patterns you’ve seen, conversations you’ve had, and you’ll have them again.

It wasn’t that long ago, but it was.
I don’t think we’re that different, but we are.

And not just in titles, not just in name. Though energy levels sure changed.

Do you ever finish a book or TV show and go back to the start to see how young the characters were? To see what they were like before we knew their story. To laugh at their choices because we know what’s coming?

That’s how I feel when I look at this picture.

In season 3, we’re going to find out Severance is based in Minnesota and these people just wanted a way to forget about their sports teams.

I’ve done therapy and it’s wonderful. It can cure the brain. But back roads with nobody around in a car with t-tops? That cures the soul.

I don’t know exactly when restaurants stopped telling us how many wings we’re getting and started listing them by the pound, but that was the beginning of the end of civilization. One of the greatest scams of the 21st century. Right up there with Ticketmaster and student loans.

If you’re not eating outside tonight then I’m not sure why you suffer through the winters in this state.

When older generations call younger ones “soft,” they’re overlooking the progress. If kids don’t need to be hardened by hardship, that’s a win. The goal isn’t to raise tougher kids—it’s to build a world where they don’t have to be.

Adults are so funny. One day we’re just like “wow, this is the only bread I’ll buy for my household ever again” and that’s it.

Does anyone else struggle with the fact that they try to avoid the other app because of politics—but this entire place basically exists for political reasons? It’s hard to find spaces to just make stupid sports jokes without also feeling like the world is ending.
