I've heard that argument before and it's a good one! It's basically how people would like to live. I noticed a lot of New England small cities were like this and one of the reasons I liked living there - they were built before cars were dominant. Look for a town built in the mid-1800s.

I do too. I'm always pointing stuff out. Can't wear hats (unless super-necessary for sun protection) because how am I supposed to see properly with a hat on? Never dated a man who wears a baseball cap b/c of this. Blinkering oneself.

This quote really sums up why so many sexual predators will never admit what they've done - it's ALL about them at the expense of others, always: "I don't accept being labelled a rapist," he protested. "It's too heavy a burden for me to carry."

California woman sues Catholic hospitals alleging emergency abortion denials
A California woman says Dignity Health twice denied emergency abortions at 17 weeks due to religious restrictions. A lawsuit was filed in S.F. Superior Court.
Said it before and will say it again: Catholic Hospitals CANNOT be trusted to provide safe care to women. Period. Via @jessicavalenti.bsky.social's excellent newsletter: Dignity hospitals couldn't help a 30-year-old miscarrying due to religious restrictions. www.sfchronicle.com/california/a...

CEO pay is up 1,094% since 1978, while worker pay is up just 26%.
Why do we always hear "we can't afford to pay our workers more" but never "we can't afford to pay our CEO more"?

A screenshot of two X posts. The first post is from Tom Morello (@tmorello), timestamped 7 hours ago, with a profile picture showing a person in a colorful outfit. The text reads: "What the f*ck is wrong with these people. Wounded Knee was a bloodthirsty massacre of Lakota Sioux, including dozens of women and children." The second post is from Secretary of War Pete (@username), timestamped 9 hours ago, with a profile picture of a man in a suit. The text reads: "Under my direction, the soldiers who fought at the Battle of Wounded Knee will keep their medals. This decision is final. Their place in history is settled." The second post includes an image of a man in a suit standing in front of an American flag and an official seal, appearing to give a formal statement.
Wounded Knee is a dark stain upon our nationβs history. We must remember it for what it truly was, not for what white nationalists would have it be.
