30. The Elephant Man (1980).

So...I get the criticisms of this film, especially viewing it as a David Lynch movie. Because, aside from a few sequences, it doesn't really feel like one. That said, as someone who doesn't regularly watch live-action dramas, this was fucking HEART-WRENCHING.-

Just finished the movie. What a goddamn performance from John Hurt. Rest easy, John/Joseph Merrick, you beautiful soul.

Also MY GOD is the makeup work for this movie incredible. Sucks that it didn’t win any Oscars but it directly leading to the incision of Best Makeup is far more important.

We’re about an hour in (splitting it into two parts) and it really does show how David Lynch’s biggest strength was showing the humanity of those who are more often than not looked down upon for bullshit reasons.
