Lots of lore about the Teamster too, but a little uncouth for polite company.

The lore is the lineman was at work when my mom was due to be born, so climbed a pole and tapped in to the line to place a call to the hospital. They said the baby had arrived, so he headed there. Different times!

One was a truck driver (Teamsters, Local 49, Lowell, MA).
The other was a fire controlman in the Navy during the war, then a telephone company lineman (Fitchburg, MA).

Hey that’s about the cost of the SSI Restoration Act, which would cut recipient poverty by 60%, eliminate marriage penalties, and modernize draconian asset limits.

We know they're cruel and crude, but naming it Operation "Epic Fury"? It's so comically villainous. Were these guys rooting for Cobra to win when they watched GI Joe as kids?

I'm old enough to remember when Trump pretended to care about whales, just long enough to try to kill wind power.

He couldn't hide what really lurked in the howling void of his soul all along: a feverish desire to ravage nature, just because he can. Many such cases, with him.

For years on my old blog I published the names of servicemembers who died in Iraq & Afghanistan. No other outlets were.

These are the first 4 Americans to die in the Iran War.
Capt. Cody A. Khork, 35
Sgt. 1st Class Noah L. Tietjens, 42
Sgt. 1st Class Nicole M. Amor, 39
Sgt. Declan J. Coady, 20

Fully agree. His approval polling and his primary challenges are well deserved.

β€˜Disgraceful’: What McKee’s remark says about his warped view of primary elections β€’ Rhode Island Current When Gov. Dan McKee called his primary election challenge from former CVS executive Helena Foulkes, β€œdisgraceful,” it spoke volumes about his view of the democratic process and himself.

Good piece from @phileil.bsky.social about the head clown driving the Rhode Island clown car. He was nicer about it but the point stands.

Democrats MUST insist on a vote on an Authorization of Military Force (an AUMF) for Trump’s war in Iran.

My friend @kaine.senate.gov is leading the charge on a War Powers Resolution (WPR) that I support. But it's not a substitute for an AUMF.

1/ A 🧡on the difference. It's important.

So, so instructive to compare media response to Afghanistan withdrawal -- months of hysterical garment-rending & catastrophizing, relentless criticism of the admin -- with the response to an unprovoked, unmotivated, illegal war of aggression, ie, "some critics say maybe Trump should have reasons."

Sen. Reed backs Iran war powers vote, says Trump is ignoring Constitution β€œPresident Trump cannot continue to ignore the Congress and the American people,” said Reed, the top Democrat on the Armed Services Committee.

NEW: @reed.senate.gov will back a resolution forcing Trump to stop the Iran war within 30 days

Armed Services Cmte's top Dem says he hasn't been briefed by Pentagon and doesn't think his GOP counterpart has, either

Made me wonder if it's a change in types of shopping/shopper rather than a death of the mall overall. It was downright lively, honestly.

Was there last week to bring kiddo to a birthday party at Dave and Buster's. To my surprise, it was packed. Every garage level full (went to roof), food court packed. Seemed contrary to the stories.

You sound like an unhinged person if you in plain words describe what’s happening, but the Trump admin demanded Anthropic’s AI be able to kill things for it w/out human approval and also do mass surveillance.

Anthropic said no, and now the admin is trying to destroy the company in retaliation.

Do we think @reed.senate.gov will stick to his plan of being the only member of the RI congressional delegation attending the State of the Union? Has the press asked him why? What do he or his constituents get out of his continued normalcy performances?

New from me: I spoke with @sethmagaziner.bsky.social about his visit to the Wyatt Detention Facility, in Central Falls, last week.

As of the last publicly disclosed head-count, there are over 100 ICE detainees held there.

Yeah, this is the defense to the left critique that Pritzker shouldn't be the nominee because he's a billionaire. He has "fuck you money" when it comes to Silicon Valley and Wall Street.

This was a legit midwestern lake-effect snow here in New England. Glad I got out in it before dark--so great to walk around the city and not see a single car, and instead people walking in the streets with smiles on their faces.
