Bethany Allen Ebrahim admits she receives funding from the US government. Instead of doing journalism, she admits she works from the premise that "Beijing is lying" and that "China's governance model is deeply flawed."
Who would have guessed she received funding from the US government.
By assuming that "Beijing is lying" one will only report a certain type of story on China.
If "China's governance model is deeply flawed" it shouldn't require all that funding to show it.
