The best comparison I can think of is the Warsaw Ghetto, but Gaza held 5 times as many people.

Never have been.

No, it should honestly be locked to 9 or some other viable number with a constitutional amendment. Most of the current members should be impeached, several should be jailed for intentionally undermining the Constitution and violating basic human rights.

Sure, if we entirely ignore the Nakba. Two things can be true at the same time, but if one of them is genocide, it doesn't matter if the other is colonialist capitalism (which, uh, really isn't a moral high ground to begin with).

No. A violent, dementia-ridden, vengeance-driven conartist with a staggering social media following willing to participate in violence and hate makes a horrifying claimant to "president-in-exile". He must not leave the US.

The Torah / Old Testament explicitly calls for Jews to commit genocide against native populations in Palestine. They're acting in accordance with religion, actually. Religion is part of the problem.

Everyone in the United States is culpable for what is going on in Gaza. The vice president's only power is tiebreaking in the senate, and openly disagreeing with Biden would have made every news program call her ungrateful or backstabbing due to misogyny. At the time it was plausible.

Pushing Trump onto another country is cruel (to them), but also gives him an escape route from justice where his cultists in the US can claim him as dictator in exile and he can foment violence without extradition. He's already guilty of unthinkable crimes; let's just go straight to the guillotine.

Gonna be honest, it was more like: "Hey, she's not Trump, not a fascist or bigot, more coherent than Biden, has plausible deniability regarding Palestine, has some decent and realistic policy proposals, and bonus she's a woman and person of color." 'Want' seems too strong a word.

Keeping children and the public uneducated is one of the party's goals. Someone is missing the point; it's fascism and it always has been.

I'd be surprised if it ended up being just booing. He has basically indicated with his "policies" that many people in attendance should just die; I'd expect a mob.

Counteroffer: Abolish ICE and free everyone from their concentration camps. Prosecute everyone involved, including the entire executive branch and everyone in Congress who voted to fund it as enabling domestic terrorism. Ban the Republican party. That's the starting line now, Bernie.

Anything short of this and it will just come back the next time Republicans win, and with a more competent regime.

ICE has always been unaccountable and criminal. It seems like most of the Democratic party only cares now that it's white people being hurt and killed in public, instead of people of color in their camps under administrations of both parties.

No, they never imagined a completely dysfunctional legislature. Remember that an amendment requires 2/3 of the house and senate and 3/4 of the states; we live in a completely different reality now.

Vance probably wouldn't mind, but I'm guessing he's too intelligent for Miller and Project 2025 to manipulate, and either side might struggle to hold on to a majority of Trump's base. Basically, they're okay with the status quo and fear the inevitable power struggle.

Why is it bizarre? Trump has made it clear that if you say anything against his administration your company gets investigated and blocked from mergers and acquisitions. Corporate autocracy and fascism go hand in hand.

Blatantly incorrect. How many territories does Russia incorporate in its federation that get no say in their country's politics and are having all their adult men used as cannon fodder in Ukraine? How many minority parties has Putin quashed since his rise to power? How many independence movements?

I've been saying for quite a while now that we have only three options: fascism, revolution or civil war. We might even be unlucky enough to get all three in a row.

It shouldn't matter if she was a wife or mother; all people have intrinsic value regardless of their marital status or relationship to others.

It doesn't matter if they had authority or not. Plenty of police have the legal authority to do terrible things to people and get away with it each year. The US government has been fascist since before we were born; the targeted demographics were just ignored or hated before.

Anything done to you when you're too disadvantaged to fight it legally is legal in practice.

I don't think it's meant to convince the poor that it's their fault, as much as it is meant to convince the middle class that it's the fault of the poor.

You can't negotiate with fascists; the ideology is fundamentally incompatible with compromise.

It's gonna be fascism, revolution or civil war, Bernie. The US has never been a democracy, but it was a semi-functioning republic before January. If you want that back, we're going to need to do a little more.

Youtube has been running ICE ads for weeks, but I don't see anyone caring about that, just Spotify. It seems that larger companies are just immune to consequences.

While you're not wrong, I think you're missing the point. Without fundamental change, christo- or techno- fascism will just rise again in a few election cycles with someone far more confident or with better control over the internet.

Corporate interests always bend the knee to fascism; it's in the definition.

The US government killing foreign nationals abroad because it feels like it is historically pretty normal, really. I agree that it's evil and wrong, but the reality is that this was normalized decades ago. The United States has never been a paragon of morality.

Going to be honest: Fox News contributed to the upsurgence and normalization of fascism far more than any internet bots. Now foreign assets may have influenced Fox, but ultimately the US is responsible for its own failure.
