When I booked for my boiler service, I was not anticipating an 8am arrival on a Monday. It’s a bit early to have to put on my ‘capable of interacting like a human adult’ mask.

Reasonably productive morning (swapping out summer/winter wardrobe aka getting out my jumpers, subsequent laundry, cutting overgrown hedge in front garden) followed by unproductive afternoon rewatching The Haunting of Hill House.

Feels like excellent Sundaying.

Two hours later. I am done, for the moment. Not a wholesale rearrangement but iterative improvements to free up the books needed for the new shelves, and sort out space for hardbacks where they came from.

Many books piled upon an armchair. Nearly all of them on the top layer are either books written by cyclists or books about cycling. There’s an entire pile of books with yellow spines because that’s what publishers do when they have a book about the Tour (including the one we published…)

New bookcase, which in all other regards is wonderful, does not have a shelf big enough for (Royal) hardbacks. So I can’t do a straight swap with the books from the bookcase I bought it to replace and instead need to rearrange ALL my books.

I’m both delighted and horrified by this turn of events.

Well now I just have four full day Fridays between now and 16th January 😂 The rest are either half days or whole days off.

Me, this morning, realising I still need to put seven days of holiday in between now and the end of the year.

People at work just now, when my online shop unexpectedly arrived early while I was on a call, were surprised at how fast I reappeared. I said I just put everything into two Bags for Life I had waiting so that the driver could get to the next delivery and apparently this isn't what everyone does?
