Conspiracy Scott sees the discussion of companies getting tariff refunds, thinks about how those same companies already passed the cost of those tariffs on to customers, and suspects we've got a brand-new ongoing grift to deal with.

My favorite part of every bad storm is watching reporters look absolutely miserable by the ocean.

"But it also takes a lot of energy to train a human. It take like twenty years of life and all the food you eat during that time before you get smart."

And it's real shame that someone wasted all those resources becoming Sam Altman.

As I’m wrapping up work on my latest novel, my mind’s drifting off to all the short stories I want to write.

Which also has me thinking about what to do with them. Submit to publishers? Compile em and self-publish my own anthology? Patreon/Substack/something online and subscription based?

Just looked out my window and realized a construction crew with an excavator had spent the morning turning an old house into a hole full of debris.

And because I am a middle-aged man, I will absolutely be taking a walk up the street to look in the hole more closely later today.

If Bill freakin' Belichick isn't a first ballot Hall of Famer, no one ever should be again.

I don't care about the scandals. Those don't outweigh the rest of his work.

Stand With Minnesota Donation Directory Stand With Minnesota is a hub for supporting, learning, and taking action to support Minnesotans impacted by ICE and federal enforcement.

In honor of an NFCCG won by a team I played for (was with the Seahawks during the preseason of my rookie year!), I just donated $555 to Stand With Minnesota (iykyk)

You’ve all given me so much on this platform, and it’s important to pay it back in any way we can

If I were in charge of Minnesota, I'd send the feds "voter rolls" that are just giant lists of names like "Harry Sack" and "Phil McCracken." You know those dipshits will fall for it.

By far the strangest, most frustrating part of just existing is having to deal with the repercussions of all the stupid nonsense that happened before you were born.

When the commentators described Sam Darnold as "more explosive than surgical" and mentioned that he led the league in turnovers, I pictured Mike Vrabel smiling...

Here in Boston, we have what's called Allston Christmas: all the young folk leave mountains of good stuff on the sidewalk as they change apartments on 9/1.

Given the timing, combined with the amount and quality of sidewalk treasures I saw this weekend, I declare July 20 to be Allston Black Friday.

Went to Superman last night! I liked it. I was entertained, the cast did a great job, and expanding beyond just Superman to include other metahumans was smart.

12 hours of sleep, some kickass deadlifts, and my favorite breakfast sandwich later. I'm as ready to face the work week as I'm gonna get!

...but I also guarantee that I'll once again be angrily muttering about running away to start an alpaca farm by 3 pm.

Working on an actual, honest to god social media marketing plan. Gonna rely on some themed days, which became easier to process when I realized I could reshuffle some of my regular scatterbrained nonsense to fit a schedule.

2025-25: This is the remix As an editor, the most common note I leave clients by far is β€œrepetition.” It’s to the point where that comment itself becomes ironically repetitive.

Deviant Magic – Fantasy fiction by Scott Colby

Spent my lunchbreak making some adjustments to the site for my Deviant Magic novels. I built landing page for my Substack, added Audible links to all the book pages, and hopefully made my socials easier to find!
