We should have a state legislature that works with us, one that embodies Massachusetts values of honesty, collaboration, and evidence-based policy.

Instead of focusing on helping neighbors who need help shoveling their walkway or people who are still without power, state house leadership is focusing on giving out favors to lobbyists and donors.

House leadership is rushing this through and shirking transparency and open debate because they know that Massachusetts residents do not support giveaways to the utility and fossil fuel industries.

State house leadership plans to bring this forward for a vote tomorrow before the impact of these policies can be fully examined by energy affordability and climate advocates.

State house leadership released the latest version of the climate rollback bill yesterday, and 45 minutes later they advanced it from committee, even though key policies in the bill had never received a public committee hearing.

I’m running for State Rep in Cambridge to demand that Massachusetts be leading: leading on immigrant rights, leading on standing up to the Trump administration, and leading on making Massachusetts beautiful with affordable housing, universal childcare, and strong union jobs.

The Safe Communities Act would help stop that. We’ve been pushing for these immigrant justice policies for over a decade, but every session, State House leadership makes empty promises and then blocks important legislation with secret votes and parliamentary tricks.

Right now, Massachusetts is voluntarily cooperating with the Trump administration, sharing data about our communities and undocumented people with ICE, and deputizing state and local law enforcement at our taxpayer expense.

Our campaign is not afraid to name the people who have been blocking the policies we need: State House leadership. There are consequences to dysfunction and procrastination, and our community is done with complacency in the face of federal fascism.

I was grateful to join @bostondsa.org and other community organizations to come together, oppose ICE, and support immigrant communities.

It is a joy to build together and knit bonds of trust across our community, grounded in the necessity of a Mass. house that will match our demands for action.

Over the next eight months, we'll continue to come together, meet one another, listen, and build support in our community for representation that will fight alongside us, and for an accountable and effective state legislature that can deliver for all of us and lead with our values.

Last week, I was grateful to be joined in Porter Square with neighbors, union members, & local electeds to announce the launch of our campaign. Thank you to Cambridge Vice Mayor @burhanazeem.bsky.social , Councillors @votejivan.bsky.social & @votealzubi.com, & IBEW 2222 for being there in support.

While mainstream politicians are making excuses for not meeting the moment and prioritizing the feelings of other politicians and the donor class, our communities are coming together in grief and doing the real work to advance our values into action.

and we are insisting that every level of government and every component of society step up in doing as much as possible to protect our immigrant neighbors and stand up to the Trump administration.

Our movement exists to bridge that gap by organizing in a way that isn’t happening right now to break through roadblocks that keep Massachusetts from doing what residents want and need.

The outcome of the last campaign cycle proved that there’s a real hunger for a different kind of politics. There’s a gap between what our residents value, and what our state legislature actually delivers.

They are stuck in a rut of dysfunction and secrecy, choosing solidarity with establishment politicians and the politics of the past rather than solidarity with communities struggling the most.

but Massachusetts house leadership is languishing in a broken status quo rather than meeting the moment and helping our state reach our potential, and live up to our reputation. While our neighbors are working to put our values into action, powerful politicians are looking out for themselves.
