There are also specialty guidelines for practice in healthcare, palliative and end of life care, and other specialties. Some specialty professional organizations also publish their own guidelines.

A great question to assess about any #HAPC or #PedPC consult: is the consulting team asking your team to advocate/work for the patient and family’s needs and wishes or for what the consulting team wants? I.e. β€œget the DNR”, sign them up for hospice, etc. #HAPC25 #HAPC #HAPCSW #PedPC #PedPCSW #HAPCSW

An important part of #SocialWork is to adhere to our core values, & as Joseph Merighi reminds us, we need to be mindful of these regularly. These include the dignity and worth of every human & social justice, and he encourages #SWHPN25 attendees to consider how they relate to land acknowledgments

It is pretty amazing how we can be in conversation with our own professional identity by being in conversation with amazing colleagues about their professional identities.

πŸ”₯πŸ”₯A 2021 study found that Medicaid expansion as part of the ACA led to a substantial reduction in mortality, primarily driven by reductions in disease-related deaths. A 2018 study in the Journal of Political Economy found that, Medicaid reduced infant and child mortality since the 1960s and 1970s.πŸ”₯πŸ”₯

He also talks about the concept of suffering, something we in our field think a lot about, and making space for that as part of the conversation, rather than seeking to eliminate it altogether. #hapc #pedpc #suffering

Besides discussion of how we can work to become more resilient and adapt to change, the author also talks about living in conversation with our lives, living to be rather than living to have. #hapc #pedpc

Currently listening to β€œMaster of Change” by Brad Stulberg. It has some wonderful insights on how to adapt to an ever changing world that are beneficial for both those who work in #healthcare and for patients and families in #palliative and #hospice care.
