Yesterday the Bridge Brigade board met with executive leadership from Bay FC. Several topics were on the agenda, especially the recent employment of Graeme Abel.

Bridge Brigade is deeply disappointed in Bay FC’s decision to hire Graeme Abel; bringing someone with a documented history of abuse into a key position of influence within the organization. While we hear the front office say that it has done it’s due diligence, we cannot ignore the broader pattern of abusive hires across the NWSL. This decision raises serious concerns about player safety, organizational accountability, and the club’s commitment to fostering a positive and protective environment. We demand greater transparency from Bay FC regarding the hiring process for Abel, as well as clear accountability for those responsible for this decision. We urge the club to hire a more suitable candidate for the position.
