What level of preciseness exists for Hawkeye zones? It is just hard to believe it’s <0.1” precise.

For A. Agreed if Encarnacion is a notably better bat than Schmitt. Projections for 2026 don’t show much of a gap, if anything Schmitt has a better floor among them.

B. Sure, but this team struggled to maximize value at the edges last year and this one scenario is them tying themselves up again.

Just the optics of how dumb it would look to start Arraez at 2B and DH Schmitt makes me think Eldridge will be on the opening day roster. I know those were the odds anyways.

This is probably why you don’t make promises like this. It makes zero sense for Arraez to be at 2B and then DH-ing Schmitt or Encarnacion. With Eldridge at DH at least you can kind of see the value play.

There’s no way Hawkeye is this precise. Cricket, which has been using Hawkeye for replays for years, has an umpire’s call because there is no belief in its extreme preciseness. It’s crazy that they’re overturning calls for misses like this.

Let’s assume Eldridge starts the year in AAA or is injured. Will the Giants put Arraez at DH or will he continue to play at 2B?

I’ve been making many under the hood changes. This transaction cut off issue is being addressed. Signings should now have bio info and recent stats. Players optioned during the season will have recent stats and players called up will have them too. Spending a bit too much time, but learning a lot!

This is one of the reasons I’m not too concerned about Devers’ zone contact rate declines. Dude squares up everything he makes up contact with.

Hmmm. Giants open to calling pitches from the dugout. Good read with takes from across the league. Bailey didn’t seem too bothered. Game calling value, positive or negative isn’t really quantified, at least publicly, so maybe doesn’t see this trend hurting his value.
