Hi @alansill.bsky.social — Thanks! This is admittedly the first time I've heard of Open OnDemand, and I'm not personally aware of efforts to get Arkouda running on it. We have some experience running Arkouda on cloud systems (e.g., AWS), as another means of accessing large numbers of cores.

I don't get the chance to talk about Arkouda—a Python library for doing exploratory data analytics interactively on supercomputers—nearly as often as I do Chapel, so this talk at the University of Washington eScience Institute (uwescience.bsky.social) that wrapped up 2025 was a fun one for me.

Chapel 2.7 is now live! 💙

This release marks an important milestone for the project, as 2.7 is the first version released since Chapel joined the HPSF as an established project in November.

Engin's a great speaker, so you won't want to miss his virtual talk for Los Alamos tomorrow, particularly if you are interested in parallel programming of CPUs, GPUs, and/or supercomputers!

I made the new scalable sort routine for the Chapel standard library! Now it's possible to easily sort a distributed array just by calling the standard library 'sort'. Outperforms the best distributed Chapel sort to date, and it performs competitively with the KaDiS AMS sort written in MPI.

On top of hundreds of other formulas, this release of E4S adds Chapel's GPU support to the mix. Thanks to the E4S project for this addition!
