The public health care system needs to be strengthened so Alberta nurses and health care workers can deliver the best patient care possible to Albertans. That means increasing capacity so we have enough staff, space and resources for Albertans to access health care when and where they need it.

Hundreds of American nurses choose Canada over the U.S. under Trump More than 1,000 American nurses have successfully applied for licensure in British Columbia since April, a massive increase over prior years.

🇨🇦🇺🇸 Increased interest from American nurses was also confirmed by nursing associations in Ontario and Alberta, as well as by the nationwide Canadian Nurses Association.

As CFNU President Linda Silas said at today’s rally, "We know it's hard out there. If you are a patient, if you are a family member or a health care worker, it's a mess. And it is not by privatizing our system that we will fix it..."

Our public health care system was founded on the belief that every single person deserves care, regardless of where they come from or how much money they have. Today, creeping health care privatization threatens this promise. Nurses are standing up for a public health care system for all.

The CFNU condemns the violent repression of protests and strikes that began in Iran this January. CFNU calls for the immediate end to the ongoing crackdown on health care workers and civilians following the January protests.
