But being a touch serious for a mo, I don't have a problem with electrically assisted bikes as they do help get people out of cars and onto bikes which can only be a good thing. Some of those will probably contract lycraitis and start muttering about "tubs" and "disc brakes" and so become mamils.

Privately owned ones are yes but there are commercial hire schemes (Lime/Uber/Voi etc) which have an exemption and are restricted in performance and area of use.

Quite a lot of them choose illegal, unlicensed and uninsured electric motorcycles.
