NEW ANALYSIS: UK emissions fell 2.4% in 2025 as coal fell to a 400-year low. Incredibly, we used less coal last year than than in 1600, when Queen Elizabeth I was on the throne and Shakespeare was writing Hamlet.

Pervert Politics: Trumpism’s Body Obsessions How Republicans went from the party of prudes to the party of perversion.

From Trump to Noem to Hegseth and beyond, we are being governed by a party of perverts who are set on making their own psychosexual derangements into policy

Dear Shabana,
I notice today that you referred to me in your speech on immigration at the IPPR think tank.
You said: β€œA party leader should not be on the beaches of France encouraging people to
make a perilous crossing on small boats.”
I suppose I shouldn’t be surprised especially after the hateful Labour campaign in Gorton
and Denton, but this is just the latest in a string of lies peddled by a discredited Government
who intentionally fan the flames of racism and division.
When I went to Calais, I was not there to encourage people to travel to the UK. I was there
to see at first hand the suffering your Government and successive Governments have done
in demonising migrants in a pathetic bid to pander to the base instincts of Reform and the
flawed strategy of Morgan McSweeney.
As you will know, if you even bothered to research my visit instead of taking Reform talking
points, I was there to witness the brutality of families living in tents in freezing temperatures. I
filled water tanks and picked up litter.
What that visit did do is confirm my belief that if we are to smash the boat gangs and stop
the boats, we need to offer safer and managed routes for migrants to come to this country.
Showing compassion as a politician is not a crime. In fact, we need to see much more of it.
It reminded me of a young MP who in October 2015 spent three days in Lesbos helping
migrants fleeing war-torn Syria. She posted videos on X, talked about handing out water and
croissants to refugees and food parcels.
When she returned to the UK, she wrote a very moving piece in the New Statesman. She
said β€œwe have to work with our European partners and create new, safe, and legal routes for
refugees to get to Europe. We cannot abandon them to their fate, left as prey for smugglers
whilst risking death on the seas.”
She said β€œmaybe we can make ourselves feel better by saying no-one is making them get on
the boats. And again, the Home Secretary is not entirely wrong when …

Dear Shabana,

Let's clear some things up around migration and remember we're talking about people's lives.

In case Gaza and now the Iranian school didn’t make it clear, militaries using AI to pick targets and execute strikes is just going to result in escalating tragedy and atrocities that leaders can shrug off and blame on the technology, making war crimes β€œacceptable” and part of the strategy of war.

This new cycle of violence was all too predictable. For months, Israeli officials had signalled an escalation of their campaign against Hezbollah. Despite a ceasefire that ended a devastating 13-month war in 2024, Israel had continued with its bombing of Lebanon almost every day, saying the group was trying to rebuild its capabilities.
Hezbollah, however, had remained quiet, aware that any move would inevitably be met with a powerful retaliation.

Interesting admission by BBC

It’s really quite easy: I don’t have a libidinal fantasy that I’ll be able to defeat paramilitary organizations in a shootout, and I’m aware that firearms increase the success rate of suicide attempts and fatality rate of domestic violence incidents

The U.S./Israeli bombing of the school in Tehran is less the fault of AI than of the original decision to attack Iran. Targeting errors are entirely predictable in war, whether made by humans or by AI. Critique of operational flaws can inadvertently serve to cleanse a strategic choice of its evil

from ICE to Iran, people in the US are far more concerned with doing the bad thing the "right way" than they are not doing the bad thing... crazy how much ppl have been primed to respond to harm with professionalization rather than.. ceasing inflicting the harm

The video of a United States Senator joining the violent removal of U.S. marine from a hearing and hideously breaking his arm in a door is an example of what has been unleashed in this country. They’re tapping in to get in on the violence.
And then he bragged about it on X later.

Every act undertaken in this brutal week must be understood as a continuation of Israel’s genocide of Palestinians that began in Gaza, 2023, and supposedly ended with a β€œceasefire” in which fire never ceased.

We identified 12 shootings by federal agents that led to the deaths or injuries of citizens & immigrants since Sept.

Nearly every time, the Trump admin blamed the injured and dead. Experts say this apparent lack of accountability demands that local authorities step up to investigate federal agents.

A war that isn't a war, documented with videos that may or may not be real, funded by elected leaders who are neither for nor against it, is the most dystopian thing that's happened in my lifetime

They want to rule a region of rubble and the US is, at best, perfectly fine with this albeit not motivated by it and at worst is actively in agreement.

Maybe I'm kirking out but the unreality of this war is wild. People posting that thousands of Kurds are fighting the regime for the CIA, while the Kurds say it isn't happening. Every video of a missile attack I just have to assume is AI whether it is real or not.

Corporate Media Buries Story of US and Israel Killing 168 in Girls School Attack No front-page stories in NYT, WSJ, WaPo. No mention on NBC and CBS Sunday Shows. No stand alone segments on Evening News shows. A death count on par with the OKC bombing is relegated to the back page.

I wrote about how the US and Israel carried out an attack on an Iranian girls school on par with the OKC bombing and US media relegated it to a back page story. No stand alone evening news segments, no front page stories, it made A11 in the NYT then everyone moved on.

My god: The patient came in with a belly full of blood, Dr. Leilah Zahedi-Spung recalled. Her pregnancy was ectopicβ€”no longer viableβ€”and could have killed her if left untreated. But when she went to a mobile pregnancy help center offering free care in an RV she was told the pregnancy could be saved.
