I know I keep banging on about my designs but it’s not easy being a small business at the moment.
Take a look at my wares and please repost.

Dinosaur season two review – this hilarious, heartwarming comedy is a classic It’s refreshing, groundbreaking and absolutely piles up the gags. The return of autistic heroine Nina is a very happy one indeed

“A product of real life experience and close female collaboration” Happy to read this glowing review of Ashley Storrie’s new series of Dinosaur, by @chitgrrl.bsky.social

Friends Again review — worth the 40-year wait to hear this album live The band only made one, superb, record, in 1984, but split before its release. At Celtic Connections in Glasgow, it finally had its moment in the limelight

"Friends Again? Nothing on the Old Fruitmarket stage suggested anything other than delight in each other’s company and joy in playing these songs."
I went to see a very special show and wrote about it for The Times.

La Chiesa Dei Morti “Have you ever seen anything like this?” our guide, Michele, asks, as he leads us into the crypt behind the altar of the Chiesa Dei Morti — Church of the Dead — in the town of Urbania in Le Marche.

"Taut leathery skin hangs like a tabard over the torsos of the best-preserved Urbania mummies, & loosely over the legs & arms like an ageing elephant’s." I visited the Chiesa dei Morti and wrote about death, life and suchlike over on substack. (it's free!) danigaravelli.substack.com/p/la-chiesa-...

I'm also chuffed to have been asked to write the introduction to Gentlemen of the West. The new Polygon editions of her books are gorgeous with art works by Joan Eardley on the front. Here's a preorder link for them all. birlinn.co.uk/contributor/...

Glasgow Apollo quip from the fantastic Emmylou Harris at #CelticConnections tonight: They used to say the heating was out but that it would be working the next time.

If this sounds negative then blame ...*gestures in direction of absolutely everything WE arrived at the flat the day before the winter solstice dressed in old clothes and ready for action. Our eldest son and his girlfriend picked up…

"I told them, then, how his dad and I had painted his nursery yellow when he was a tiny, unborn thing, known to us only as 'button'”. My @heraldscotland.bsky.social column on a paint job and the small joys that keep us from becoming bitter. www.heraldscotland.com/news/2572507...

My stupidly talented friend Mike created this magnificent @heraldscotland.bsky.social front page, and now it’s up for Front Page of the Year.

He deserves all the recognition he’s received for it, and it would be much appreciated if you gave it a vote

From Glencoe to the Lords — Labour’s Highland baroness Catherine MacLeod, a former adviser to Alistair Darling, is the only Scot on a list of 25 new peers dominated by nominees from London and England’s southeast

It’s not every day you find out a former colleague is a member of the House of Lords. Catherine is super smart and kind - exactly the kind of person needed in a legislature.

Nigel Farage was once run out of Edinburgh. Now Scottish voters are embracing his rabble-rousing | Dani Garavelli The Reform leader is exploiting growing resentment towards migrants and hosting a sold-out event - something unimaginable just a few years ago, says freelance columnist Dani Garavelli

A wee bit I wrote about the hammerblow of watching people from the country that gave us the Glasgow girls and Kenmure Street turn to the right. And about the opportunism of Farage as he heads north. www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

Lepanto LEPANTO

I'm not really starting a substack, I don't think. But 1 of the best things that happened to me this year was being shortlisted for the Anne Brown essay prize. The essay was on my great aunt, her house & her remarkable siblings. You can read it here, if you like. danigaravelli.substack.com/p/lepanto

Diego Armando Maradona, who died on this day in 2020, aged 60.

Here he is aged 18 in June 1979, looking out over Hope Street from the Central Hotel. He scored his first goal for Argentina that day, the third in a 3-1 win.
