I remember that the fight was released as a preview of the movie at some film festival. For what felt like forever this was the only window into what post original story Eva was gonna be. And it set the bar really high.

I did not mean to capitalize the "It" at the start.

IT is a full retelling of the original story and goes beyond it, i do think you could see it, get the relevant subtext and enjoy it.

I like the other aspects of the show well enough, but since Cleon was introduced i wanted the whole show to be the tragedy of the clone emperor, with foundation just kinda happening off screen.

Does it have any major differences from the show? I know this franchise loves to drop things out of left field when they retell the story.

I remember at some point there being an interview with the creator where he said he had 7 seasons fully mapped out, i can't help but wonder what could have been.
(And on a more selfish note i wish he would just publish them as books to read through)
