I should correct 3D3+4D3 (not 4D2) and 378kW (not kWh!)

My guess is mostly tires. If you look here at Yellow vs Green. This is 2024 legacy vs 2025 opal with the same 3D3+4D3 drive units. Only difference is shape (same frontal area) and tires and brake system. The efficiency increase overall is just below 4%.

The European version for now still uses the LG 5L 79kWh NMC pack, that was introduced in 2021. The drive units are the same as the 2024 model from Grünheide. 3D3+4D2 which has not certified power changes from the legacy model. This is 378kWh combined motor power and 179kW 30 Minute Power.

Nope, sorry, unless a compatible batter pack for Tesla gets certified anywhere in the world, I wont be able to provide solid information about it.

That is quite normal when looking at the build date. VC43 was certified end of November but only released later.

Thanks for the heads up! Looks like early builds from beginning of January are still LFP60 packs according to issued COC's. Fingers crossed the changes to the 6M happened already or happens very soon for Europe.

According to one user in German TFF Forum the COC for a 5th of January car still shows the old CATL 6L pack.

The 6L was declared 60kWh by Tesla. The net capacity was 62kWh measured by the US EPA. The M3 was locked to 61kWh and the MY to 60kWh.

If the new pack is declared 62.5kWh by Tesla then the true net capacity might also be higher.

Cold charge performance improvements would be more important anyway.

Sadly the VIN will not tell you if it's the new 6M pack or if it's produced this year. If you are eager for such a car I would wait for the first confirmation of that pack being installed on European cars from the first posted COC documents in the forums. This is the only solid confirmation.

Giga Shanghai produces European cars in the first six weeks of a quarter (right now). At the same time cars from that line are marketed with the new pack and a domestic delivery within 1-3 weeks!

Yes and I am still expecting that M3 RWD that are produced in 2025, in transfer to europe at the moment, are likely to already have the new battery pack. This has happened in the past that upgraded cars were being delivered while the configurator was still showing the old car.

The range increase from 606km to 634km was apparently on the 1st of January 2025. I had to verify this. So yes. It looks like any car built in the year 2025 in china (not model year!) is receiving the new larger pack!

Nothing really. The increased recharged Km per 15 minutes is a confusing indicator as it is a factor of charging power, capacity and efficiency.

This latter number goes up logically if the efficiency is increased. The newer CATL pack likely charges faster, but this I not a clear indicator in my opinion.

Primarily motor. We've seen 5.9 in the past with the old CATL 6L if paired with the 3D6 performance motor.

The 83kWh are based on the range increase from 551km WLTP in Hongkong to 581km in Taiwan. The latter receives cars from Germany. Since Taiwan also declares higher WLTP ranges for the Model 3, this can also be a nothingburger and Europe continues with the old LG 5L 79kWh. Hard to tell right now!

634km CLTC of range for the base model 3 was released late 2023 I beleive. So I dont see a change there just yet.

The biggest wildcard is the "not changing" range when switching between 19" and 20" wheels.

Tesla can still release new products and have customers order them as long as the certification is completed before the vehicles are delivered. This has lead to postponing of deliveries in the past already. Tesla is often really tight, with these time schedules.

At this time no new version of the Model Y / Model 3 certification has leaked. I am sure the certification process was finalized in December 2024, but the documentation is not finalised or purposely held back!
