i mean one of the things that i think a lot of women, and even feminists, struggle to grapple with is the extent to which men know, on some level, that patriarchy harms them but chose to invest in it anyways because the benefits outweigh those harms

just really love watching women who grew up with the privilege of things like anti-sexual harassment law and the criminalization of marital rape turn around and shit on the second wave feminists who fought for and won those things as "carceral"

the absolute refusal of some feminists to acknowledge this as the grotesque child rape apologia that it was is a profound betrayal of survivors everywhere & it deserves to be called out loudly & repeatedly until sex radical/sex-positive feminists honestly and seriously grapple with this ugly history

these were not women who were merely concerned with "government overreach" and seeking non-carceral alternatives to protect children from sexual predators. these people were openly supportive of nambla and explicitly argued that children have a "right" to "choose" sex with adults.

and then there's the minimization and denial. rubin, calafia et al were not merely concerned about government overreach or carceralism. they actively argued that sex between adults and children could be consensual and good. and it drives me nuts the way some feminists try to obfuscate that fact.
