This week a 9 year old told me his height in feet and inches in hope he wouldn't have to use booster seat. Didn't work because I know he has to be 135cm to not use one legally. 4feet 3 inches? No idea, so he used the seat. Why do we use this rubbish still?

Why do measurements in inches persist in UK, despite children being taught everything in cm for decades? I was at school in 80s and only learned cm. I'm particularly irked that clothing uses inches still. I have no idea on sizes when buying jeans or school uniform. Idiocy!

One issue with retail that some may not be aware of, is the frequency of full time jobs. Contracts can be for a small number of hours in order to cover the busiest periods. It's possible that only salaried staff are on 40 hour contracts, as opposed to hourly paid staff.

It's a huge part of upskilling local people into vital employment areas like social work and nursing. There's also the impact on housing. I hate that some leaders don't see education as an essential investment
