"The world is not divided between East and West. You are American. I am Iranian, we don't know each other, but we talk and we understand each other perfectly. The difference between you and your government is much bigger than the difference between you and me. And the difference between me and my government is much bigger than the difference between me and you.

And our governments are very much the same."

10 years after its founding, driven by the energy, enthusiasm, & dedication of the community @quantum-journal.bsky.social quietly published paper #2000 some days ago.

At least I think this is a big deal, big shout out to the founders & all authors, reviewers, editors, board members & contributors!

The definition of the induced representation on Wikipedia looks wrong or at least unclear. The notation h_i seems to suggest that these elements of H depend only on the coset label i but not the element g of group G. This can't be right... Or am I missing something?

Although 2025 was absolutely shocking in terms of the cruelty of powerful people, science can still be a refuge from it. A highlight for me was retreating to the mountains to teach at the Les Houches Summer School. Here are my lecture notes: arxiv.org/abs/2512.24390

I didn't try. The problem is that I don't know what degree to expect (it might be 64 or perhaps some larger power of 2). I'm hesitant to provide additional options to the algorithm since it should be able to figure this out on its own.

I tried running Mathematica's RootApproximant function with 20,000 digits of precision but the polynomial it output was huge and didn't reproduce the remaining digits correctly. Any other suggestions on what to I try?

Here's a fun challenge: I have computed a number with million digits of precision

and I suspect it is algebraic, i.e. a root of a polynomial of a reasonably small degree and with reasonably small integer coefficients. Can you find this polynomial?
