i'm pretty sure maggie didn't survive winter. did a lot of crying over the weekend. it appears her burrow has been taken over by someone new. maggie was my favorite... i'm going to miss her a lot. she was real special to me

early spring and late summer are the only times it's really possible for us to identify our chip friends' genders. we've discovered that pal and buddy are both girls, which is awesome because it means there's a chance they'll give us some grandchips this summer ;__;

we stayed in different villages, usually on hatteras island. rodanthe. waves. avon. rodanthe is where i met my husband IRL for the first time. we shared our first hug in the driveway of a rental house called "roaring surf"

i'm not a big "beach person". i loved hearing the waves at night, though

i miss my family so much. dad's been gone over a decade. i know i won't see mom again before she dies. i already told her i won't be attending her funeral, and i won't fight my siblings for her things. they hate my guts anyway

i wish i had appreciated those vacations more

we used to take a family vacation every summer. at first, we'd spend a week traveling all over the US. later, we'd just book a place on the outer banks of NC. it became home away from home
