Three years ago GRU Unit 29155 (aka UAC-0056) defaced UA government websites, hacked into networks and used wiper to destroy data. That was a sort of "Kyiv in 3 days" in cyber which by and large failed.

We are waiting for the earliest possible recovery, identification of the attack vector and further analysis, as well as competent attribution.

1. There was a briefing.
2. Comments were from the first person in the ministry.

About the positive. As a person who knows something about crisis communications of cyber incidents, I will pay tribute to Olga Stefanishyna's morning briefing:

We take for granted that offline backups of registries exist. Now the question is their consistency and the time/date of the last backup (in science, RPO or recovery point objective). I told journalists about this in the morning.
