A fun note on pineapple vs. ananas is what the fruit is called in Portuguese. That actually depends on which country you're in! In Portugal, ananás is indeed the name for the fruit, but in Brazil, they use abacaxi, possibly from the Tupi language. It's sort of an eggplant/aubergine situation.

You're correct. The term that Kyle used is a hybrid of sesquicentennial (150) and semiquincentennial (one of several words that could mean 250) to refer to both as a combination. I forget who coined this term last year, but I for one don't like it.

I got to show off one of my @magictavern.bsky.social shirts! A dancer asked my about it and I explained the premise, how a guy fell through a portal behind a Burger King into the magical land of Foon, and now interviews the fantastical people and creatures in the land. Might have a new convert!

That incorporates green (lettuce), LGBT (sashay away), and square dance (half sashay, a square dance move). I feel like the idea was my own, even though an LLM provided the spark that helped me come up with it. That name won the vote by my fellow students, and became our class name. (4/4)

Hidden among the ideas the LLM came up with, I found inspiration for a pun: using "lettuce" as a command (let us). I think it used "Lettuce Promenade" or something similar. I pulled that idea out, massaged it, and submitted "Lettuce Sashay". (3/4)

I asked ChatGPT for ideas based on finding connections between LGBT, square dance, and the color green (our class color). It was able to come up with dozens of ideas, most of which were either not very inspired or too cliché. Nothing really hit that sweet spot. (2/4)

I've played around with ChatGPT occasionally, and found it to be lacking in a lot of ways. Where it has proven itself most useful is, as you say, brainstorming ideas. In my LGBT square dance class, we students were asked to suggest names for our class and we'd all vote on them. (1/4)
