After 18 months of work, Hands-On Generative AI with Transformers and Diffusion Models is published! This is one of my most challenging projects and I'm so proud and happy to see it out there
Check it out!

So how was my first week back at Google?
- PaliGemma2 was openly released
- DeepMind openly released GenCast weather forecast (in a GCP bucket π)
- Genie 2 π§world model was announced
This team ships π₯π Let's go!
ππPaliGemma 2 is our updated and improved PaliGemma release using the Gemma 2 models and providing new pre-trained checkpoints for the full cross product of {224px,448px,896px} resolutions and {3B,10B,28B} model sizes.

I'm very excited to announce that I'm joining Google to work on the Gemini API, open models (Gemma and friends), Colab, AI Studio, and family! π€
Let's ship and go brrr π₯π₯³
This demo of structured data extraction running on an LLM that executes entirely in the browser (Chrome only for the moment since it uses WebGPU) is amazing

Thanks for sharing, this is a topic I'm quite passionate about.
Do you have any hype-free recommended reads (books, articles, etc) about current or potential positive applications of AI in education?
That's the thing, I don't believe they are some trolls.
These are people with valid strong anti-AI sentiments that are blocking everyone in the AI ecosystem ("AI friends"). From what I saw, many said nothing good has/can be done with AI.
TIL you can see which lists you belong to in bsky, and it seems I've been blocked by 150 people already due to my post yesterday πͺ
I'll keep hoping for a collaborative and kind space where empathy rules rather than polarization and violenceβ€οΈ

I'm disheartened by how toxic and violent some responses were here.
There was a mistake, a quick follow up to mitigate and an apology. I worked with Daniel for years and is one of the persons most preoccupied with ethical implications of AI. Some replies are Reddit-toxic level. We need empathy.
