Dragon Ball Sparking Zero:

Certainly not the hype masterpiece everyone was expecting during launch, but the game is still enjoyable, especially with friends. Obviously there's amazing visuals too, but the single player is also fun and I greatly look forward to the new updates.

Kashimashi ~Girl Meets Girl~ (Anime):

I loved how this version makes full use of more striking visual storytelling as well giving the first act a more natural pace. However the conclusion isn't as strong, with a much messier final conflict. Still a solid adaptation overall.

Sonic The Hedgehog OVA (Rewatch):

Revisit of a childhood classic. While it drags at times, It's still overall pretty fun and captures the essence of what I love about this era of Sonic, especially with it's catchy ost, fast-paced adventure, and neat action with Metal Sonic.

Kashimashi ~Girl Meets Girl~:

Despite it's nonsensical beginning, I managed to find this story really emotionally gripping. There's a nice exploration of femininity, whilst showing the value of spending life to the fullest. I just wish the trio ended in a polycule, but oh well.

Flip Flappers (Rewatch):

I ended up being more enamored by the boundless creativity at display here than last time, especially with how it was use to create a cohesive throughline and world explored by its colorful cast. These absurd adventures are now truly one of my favorites.

Cosmic Princess Kaguya!:

I was already enamored by this being a massive love letter to otaku and vocaloid culture, but the use of strong parallels shown through the deeply intimate relationship between Iroha and Kaguya and their love for music moved and inspired me the most.

Rock Is a Lady's Modesty (Anime):

Absolutely insane music and visual direction that gets me ecstatic. I also adore its excellent use of innuendoes to connect its fantastic cast and distinguish them from the preconceived notions forced upon them as well. Praying for a season 2.

The Concept Café Girl Wears Love:

A fun slice of life yuri manga that I wish was longer, but still greatly used its theme of self expression through the lens of a fashion designer. Plus, I love the eccentric adult cast, especially Miki & Tao, the latter being a great trans rep.

Kuttsukiboshi:

Jesus Christ. I can't lie and say I didn't find this to be a shockingly intriguing, and messy passion project. However, I genuinely think behind all that, there's some effective character writing and parallels, with a unique visual identity for me to appreciate.

Udongein X:

Short, but enjoyable. I'm not too familiar on the Megaman X series of games, yet I was still able to enjoy the style here, with both Reisen and Seiran being pretty fun to play. Some of the challenges and unlocks were kind of a drag though, but still, its a good game.

Akiba Maid War:

This was incredibly entertaining just off it's batshit premise alone, but there was truly a lot to appreciate here. The characters play well into the absurdity, and there's a really sweet connective throughline in the midst of all the intense action and comedy.

2025 comes to an end, I didn't get as much stuff done this year compared to last, but regardless I ranked what I completed/caught up with (once again unordered).

Here's hoping I lock in next year.

Fragtime:

An odd, but pleasant experience. I love how it conveyed the vulnerability of Moritani and Murakami through the halting of time, and the unorthodox direction, while disjointed at times, made for a great and unique experience. Will check out the original manga next year.

The Cat Returns:

A simple, but very fun movie with a nice message. The characters are all very charming and I personally found Haru to be incredibly relatable; not to mention I adore the whimsical nature of it's scenery... And its a movie about cats, so I'm bound to love it.

My Bride is a Mermaid OVA:

Hadn't watched these shorts before, but they were incredibly entertaining, and I liked the new characters despite their short appearances. Plus the tonal whiplash with the horror short was fucking hilarious. Honestly watching these made me want more.

My Bride is a Mermaid (Rewatch):

A childhood anime of mine, and this revisit has been an absolute treat. Easily becoming my favorite romcom anime with how absurd, but earnest it is. Whilst also providing me with a lovable cast, excellent production value, and some good laughs.

Chainsaw Man - The Movie: Reze Arc:

It managed to greatly elevate the emotional core of one of my favorite arcs within the original manga with cinematic direction that left me speechless. Couple that with a fantastic score and action, and it makes me love Reze's story even more.

Key The Metal Idol:

Not only do I enjoy its sci-fi take on the idol industry, but it manages to use show don't tell to create an effective introspective and bittersweet story. And despite its flaws near the end, I found myself loving the character of Key and her bonds even more.

Soul Eater NOT!:

I had never read the original manga for this. Regardless, it's a neat addition to the series that kind of drags in the middle portion. It's fun and cute, but it definitely leaned more on being a moe slice of life rather than an expansion of the Soul Eater world.

Malice@Doll:

This is a really fascinating surrealist horror anime that uses its limited animation and grotesque imagery incredibly well. Lending itself to the unsettling nature of the narrative and allegories for SA with how these dolls are stripped of their bodily autonomy.

Soul Eater (Reread):

One of my childhood series, and it's even better than what I remembered. I love its horror-esque world and aesthetic, and the characters along with their shared dynamics, remain incredibly captivating. Even with its rough bits, it truly means a lot to me.

K-pop Demon Hunters:

While its premise and story were extremely generic, I found the music and animation quality to be quite incredible. That being said, the humor wasn't great, and I wasn't super crazy for any character despite the decent third act. It's fine, but not for me.
