I write books about government deregulation, but like, in a fun and sexy way.

Yes, I am brainstorming a fantasy book in which the focal worldbuilding conflict is about deregulation. But last time it was about deregulation of the transportation industry and this time it is about the deregulation of the energy industry.

Nothing else is mundane enough to me to not do it myself. Not to say it's all INTERESTING. But it matters that I do it.

Eg, I write my own emails because communicating with people is important. I write my own code because I need to understand how it works.

I do it because it's worth doing.

All other ethical considerations aside, I have only found one aspect of my work that is mundane enough to consider using AI. I have a bunch of poorly formatted code (like almost unreadably formatted) that I inherited. I would be open to letting AI reformat it (if there weren't other issues with AI).

This was sort of an accident. I drafted the book, really liked Eden (the character my book MC plays), and decided to make a version of Eden my PC when I got invited to @wwcomicspodcast.bsky.social. And now I'm back to working on the book.

The MCs of my current book are actors in a film adaptation of a fictional comic book with characters who also exist in the ficitonal comic of the actual play podcast I'm in. So my book leads are sort of playing the same characters I play?

I've made the Kyraverse too complex I fear.

Not that I'm willing to overlook Musk's bigotry, but apart from being problematic, the site isn't even usable any more. Anything I'd want to see is buried under content-farming posts.

On the phone with my dad excitedly asking me if I remember "Nathan the server from Enzo's" (I do not) who apparently told my dad he was a musician and my dad finally got to see him perform by chance at another restaurant. I asked how long ago Nathan served him dinner and he said probably five years.

Microsoft word just suggested I change "He batted his eyes at her" to "he batted his eyes on her" and asked if I'd like copilot to rewrite that sentence.

Yeah, no I'm not letting the computer take another crack at that sentence.

Met the wife of one of my coworkers and she said "Oh you're the one who's really into Twilight" and idk I don't feel like I'm coming back from that one.

When someone starts stalking Cari's beloved roller derby team dressed as the killer from her dad's 90s cult classic slasher, she and her messy gay love quadrangle must put their baggage aside to stop them.

No shade, it was a very fun event that they put a bunch of effort into. But I'm just imagining the people driving by on the interstate we were right next to wondering why there was a financial drone show happening.

My day job is at a credit union and they did a drone show at our employee appreciation party that was entirely credit union themed which was objectively hilarious.

Haha, not me. I'm melting and just daydreaming about it being a more appropriate temperature to do autumnal activities.

TBH if there's a type of book you want and are having trouble finding probably capitalism is the actual culprit.

People are probably writing the exact thing you want and you're not finding it because capitalism hasn't deemed it profitable or decided to put marketing dollars behind it.

It's always weird to me when people insist they're not seeing enough a kind of book they want because some other type of book exists, but it's especially annoying to accuse queer books of overrunning a space.

This! Ace folks are not and have never been the enemy of romance/erotica. We are, in fact, natural allies in that the people who want to eradicate us are the same. Anyone using ace folks as a shield for their puritanical bullshit can get the hell out. We are for sexual liberation, full stop.
