As much as Iran having a nuclear bomb has to do with the USA. Still the USA bombed Iran.

You are the "other guy" referred to above. It is not complicated.

02.11.2025 16:37 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

Yes, because Ukraine wanted to join NATO and NATO said open door.

Jesus, you are saying Putin controlled Congress while the other guy is screaming Trump controlled Congress in 2023 when Biden was President. Make your minds up.

Do expand on this please.

Sure, Russia with a couple of hundred thousand soldiers is going to conquer a country twice the size of Germany with 40 million people. If the US could not control Afghanistan .....

Is that the New York Times editorial board you are referring to?

And in 3 or 4 years it is quite possible countries in Europe will have new governments elected on the promise to spend more on their own people than on weapons for Ukraine. Does France really want to give 10s of billions to Ukrainian?

02.11.2025 12:02 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

It is so obvious it would have been better to accept the deal. How has the death and destruction Ukraine has suffered benefitted them? There is no reason to believe Ukraine is in a better position now than 3 years ago & every reason to believe Putin will extract more from Ukraine than 3 years ago.

Open door policy. Were you not listening to Jens Stoltenberg and NATO's open door policy to Ukrainian membership?

01.11.2025 23:05 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

Sure, Putin thinks he is going to control a country twice the size of Germany, 40 million people, by invading with a couple of hundred thousand troops. He saw the USA fail in Afghanistan and Iraq. He might be stupid, but few are that stupid.

Of course Russia made it clear long before Biden. Even Angela Merkel blocked any talk of Ukraine joining NATO over 10 years ago because, as she said, it would have resulted in war. Glad you finally see sense.

01.11.2025 15:16 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 2    πŸ“Œ 0

You never said Biden was President in 2023. Correct, I had to tell you Biden was President in 2023.

01.11.2025 14:33 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 2    πŸ“Œ 0

At least I knew Biden was President in 2023.

01.11.2025 14:31 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Well let us hope you are right and Putin is weaker than ever.

We all want lovely things. Russia made it clear, no guarantees and no NATO. Now, after over 3 years, it does seem as if Ukraine is in a weaker position with every passing year. It is Ukraine's choice of course, but is negotiating now, even from this weakened position, worse than continuing to fight?

01.11.2025 13:58 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

What? Because I read the New York Times or because I knew Biden was President in 2023?

01.11.2025 13:37 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

They cannot. Just as Cuba, Chile, Iran etc etc have found out over the last 75 years.

01.11.2025 13:34 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

The USA / NATO had poured many tens of billions of dollars of weapons into Ukraine. The failed counter offensive began in June 2023. Donald may have told his servants in Congress to cut funding but that had little to do with the failed counter offensive in June 2023 as the New York Times makes clear

01.11.2025 13:31 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

And that will always be the case. The USA still has a trade and travel embargo on Cuba. As for risk profile, Finland in NATO probably is not a change in risk profile for Russia. But Russia made clear Ukraine in NATO was.

01.11.2025 13:19 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 3    πŸ“Œ 0

Biden was President in 2023! Jesus, no wonder you have no idea about Ukraine if you do not even know who was the President of the USA in 2023! We all make mistakes, but really....

01.11.2025 12:13 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 3    πŸ“Œ 0

Tell that to the New York Times. I am sure they will be delighted to revise their analysis..

01.11.2025 12:10 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

But no one was and no one is going to give Ukraine security guarantees. Just as the USA will not accept commies in its backyard Russia made it clear it would not have NATO troops and missiles in Ukraine.

The Secret History of the War in Ukraine This is the untold story of America’s hidden role in Ukrainian military operations against Russia’s invading armies.

Well then I look forward to the counter attack to reclaim L&D. Of course they did try this before when they were well armed by Biden and NATO and failed miserably. www.nytimes.com/interactive/...

From the New York Times! I think not. The last 3 years has shown ample evidence of massive loss of life and destruction in Ukraine. Its position when negotiating an end is now much weaker than in 2022.

Ukraine-Russia Peace Is as Elusive as Ever. But in 2022 They Were Talking. (Published 2024) Representatives from the warring nations held peace talks in the early weeks of the Russian invasion. They fizzled. Documents from those talks show why any new ones will face major obstacles.

It would have been so much better for Ukraine to accept terms 3 years ago. Do you really believe Ukraine is going to reclaim Crimea and L/D? Ukraine-Russia Peace Is as Elusive as Ever. But in 2022 They Were Talking. www.nytimes.com/interactive/...
