What appears to be a giant praying mantis wandering a corn field is actually a normal sized praying mantis that's actually sitting on my windshield

Timeline Cleanse: Please enjoy this photo of a praying mantis that was sitting on top of my car windshield, but the angling and lighting were so weird it looks like a giant praying mantis wandering a corn field in Iowa.

The time between Christmas and New Year's eve

Most of my window is covered in a thin sheet of wavey ice. Looks like an expensive effect to recreate without nature.

A small gap in the window ice got me a shot of wisteria, a long winding vine plant that covers my yard bench, complete covered in a thin layer of ice. Each long vine of wisteria is encased in ice.

The bluebird is sitting forward, facing right, with its orange breast all puffed out, and its impossibly blue head and back bold against the mushy brown-gray late winter background. The bluebird is a creature of happiness and hope, brought back from the brink of extinction and so we take lessons from the bluebird -- and from our efforts to save it -- on this day. But it's also worth noting that right now THIS bluebird is watching another pair of bluebirds try to lay claim to a nesting box, and the thoughts going through his head are probably "oh fuck you, that's mine," as they keep fighting over that space, like cranky renters.
