I’ll give a few kind words to the Genesis port of Valis III while I can. It isn’t all bad, but, as someone who’s owned it since 1991, I’ve earned the right to bitch about it. :)

Anyway, the cut scenes are massively shortened, but still look really nice! Even the animation is pretty fluid.

The same screen from the Mega Drive version of the game (the text scrolls over the image in this one, like the PCE version; I actually prefer the text displayed under the image in the Genesis version myself). You can translate/localize “立て優子!!” in a number of different ways (“Stand up and fight”, “Be brave”, etc.), but “Cheer up” ain’t one of them!

I’ll cheer up when you hire a translator who knows what they’re doing, Bob!
