Out of the blue, my mom got a letter telling her that she had unclaimed money with the state. Seems there was a savings account in her brother's name that no one knew about when he passed away and she is his next of kin.

Every state treasury department has a department that deals with that

My demented mother also reports things that are false with full conviction and if you show her videos or photos, she shakes her head no and continues her views. That is a key characteristic of dementia is impaired reasoning and problem solving.

That office is located on the main road between my house and my parents.
We pass it daily.
Every day my mom tells me that office is closed.
Even when the parking lot is full of cars.
I can't change her mind.
That is dementia.
Reasoning and problem solving is impaired.
They are stuck on repeat.

To my mom, no time has passed since that building was closed for repairs.
Meaning it is still closed.
Even when she sees cars parked all around it.
She reports it is closed.
On weekends when the parking lot is empty, she says, it is too bad that closed down for good.
Her brain loops on old info

My mother with dementia told me the doctor's office near her house closed down.
It did for a few weeks after a car crashed through the front.
That was more than a year ago.
I told her that they repaired and reopened and she told me I was wrong.
That is my doctor's office.

I think this needs to be the default action.
Ice fishing.

I highly recommend emptying out your fridge, unplugging it and leaving the doors open for a few days before having service techs.
Plug it in and see if it works.
Save yourself $200.

The repair techs require that the fridge be emptied and off for 48 or more hours to provide service.
Often that fixes the thermostat issues and minor computer issues too.
Then the company charges $200 for the service call.
I have repaired several fridges with that technique.

It felt good to fix it.
I told Dad that the owner of a repair shop told me that often all a fridge needs is to be turned off/unplugged defrosted and come to room temp. It resets the computer and makes the thermostat work correctly.
Thermostats often get too cold and malfunction.

If I had not been there, my parents would not have asked for my help.
All of the food in the fridge would have spoiled.
They would have likely eaten it and got food poisoning.
Even while I was there, they did not tell me about the error code or the issue with the ice maker.

I googled the error code and learned that the condenser fan was not working correctly. That we needed to clean it and see if it was able to spin.
So the 3 of us, moved the fridge away from the wall.
Unplugged it.
Dad vacuumed the back of it.
We plugged it back in and no error code.

My dad is feeling better.
When I am not available due to my own poor health, my father suffers.
He can no longer fill his medication dispenser consistently.
Meaning that I have to do it.
I went last night and filled it.
While I was there, I saw his fridge had an error code on the door.

I have requested a meeting with a different attorney to learn if I can change attorneys?
If I have been granted a second chance?
If what I have been going through is just the way things work?
Or if my attorney is the asshole I think he is?
Hoping someone will take over and get me my pension.

I am really struggling too.
I hope things improve for both of us soon.
I am feeling trapped.

I am trying to make decisions and it all boils down to I do not trust my attorney because he is dishonest and manipulative.

Then I started coughing like coughing is an olympic event.
Then I could breathe.

It makes you the bad guy, when you don't order it.
Then those patients are the ones saying doctors don't know about genetic tests for best medications

My mother but she has dementia and forgets she doesn't like them.

After spending the weekend with a Spotted Virus of no name, I would love to have had a shot instead.
I want more vaccines.
I want a sore arm for a minute rather than every joint screaming in pain for days and being sick sick.

I hate that she thinks his responses are due to him being a man over his being abusive.
If she lived alone with a mentally ill mother that screamed nonstop, she is an expert at retreating into her own safe space. I hope she finds a support system that helps her leave him safely.

I hope he does not hurt her or her child.
I hope that she learns that he is not behaving appropriately.
Sure people get angry.
They also learn how to express anger without throwing things or swearing at their children or yelling and scaring their spouse.
What happens when something major goes wrong

Sadly, children growing up with mentally ill parents, learn how to distance themselves from their feelings and events around them to survive. From her self description, it seems she avoids have feelings. When he questions if he can have emotions, it is confusing to her because she suppresses hers.
