I saw this and at first thought "no, there's no way 'we definitely had alternative leadership in mind for Iran but I blew them up alongside the schoolgirls using AI' is what the White House is actually saying, that's too clueless and evil to be real"

This grant also inspired this statement from our current city council president Susan Honda.

The city accepted a $500k grant for this project last December, and I would’ve sworn it said β€œsidewalk” at the time. Turns out it did! πŸ€”

If a 'designated shoulder' is another one of these concrete humps masquerading as a sidewalk, it's a hard no from me. People will just park in the space.

I will attend the mtg to ask the city to include specific designs in its agenda packet and to figure out what this designated shoulder plan is.

The Federal Way City Council hasn’t done much work in the time since they ousted the former council president.

Non-consent agenda items in the subsequent two meetings include:
- redo on council commission appointments
- citizen commission appointments
- co-living housing code amendment

the license criminalization scheme in Kansas...stripping immigrants of their legal status...

all of this shows, and is meant to show, that the legal rights of disfavored groups are conditional and can be rescinded at will

such discriminatory chaos is incompatible with a real inclusive democracy

A real live look into Cop Brain:

1. Driver hits a cyclist in a bike lane. The cyclist is knocked unconscious and receives multiple fractures
2. The attending cop follows the victim to the hospital to give a ticket for "cycling without a helmet" which does not exist
3. Driver gets off with no charge

So far the legislature is not including the cut in their budgets. FTR, these are the WA House members, all dems, who voted for the cut:

Ormsby, Gregerson, Macri, Berg, Bergquist, Cortes, Doglio, Fitzgibbon, Leavitt, Lekanoff, Peterson, Ryu, Springer, Stonier, Street, and Thai.

The WA Senate Dems' budget proposal includes at least a whopping $310 million in cuts to public education:

❌ $140M cut to transition to kindergarten
❌ $110M cut to Local Effort Assistance (meaning an immediate budget cut to school district operations)
❌ $60M cut to budget depreciation calculations

I'm similarly outraged at the ESIT cuts. I can't tell if the reduction has been included in the first budget draft from the House today. fiscal.wa.gov/statebudgets...

I imagine even if it isn't that HB 2688 can still move since it doesn't have a cutoff.

It’s not just that the services are public and low/no cost, but speech therapy in-home or in-daycare is so convenient and the people are excellent! ☹️

BURGUM: It's true, but those temperatures are required for nuclear fusion, which powers sunshine. So are those temperatures dangerous or necessary for life? We know it's the latter.

β€œas I was driving I saw the car was parked in the middle of the road so I stopped to see what was going on ( before any police arrived or were called. The guy was saying "help someone got under my car " . I was so freaked out bc I saw her legs under the car but it didn't seem that she got under the car, she seemed squished. He didn't speak English so he was screaming in Spanish. I Called the police and explained that he kept saying that he didnt hit anyone that when he came out of the ramen shop that he saw the person under his car. he was so freaked out. Pretty sure that he was in a rush to go get the order that he didn't even realize he hit her and went inside to grab the food. Then he came out, put the foood in his car and only AFTER realized she was there. The whole like having to deliver food super fast was over his mind and he was so distracted that he didnt even realize he hit her. His spanish sounded like a Dominican/ Puerto Rican accent. I was able to translate to the police because I speak Spanish and am Hispanic. The weird part was when the police arrived, he showed them that he was just there to pick up an order, and got the izakaya ramen bag out of his car from the FRONT PASSENGER SEAT. so that shows he was in a whole different mindset that when he got back to the car he didn't even realize she was there. Maybe he didn't realize until he tried to drive forward and couldn't pull forward hence her being further stuck into the car. I have pictures and videos.”

β€œI think it was my DoorDash order. I feel HORRIBLE.
I placed an order around 7pm but they forgot the ramen part of my order. We were refunded and placed the order again. Around 8 we saw that the driver picked up the order. By 8:40 we messaged asking if everything was OK because we could see that he was still in front of Kizuki.
He messaged that he was in an accident and was waiting on things to be cleared up- DoorDash showed that his correspondence was in Spanish. We messaged back asking if he would like us to cancel the order so he could focus on the accident (we assumed it was a fender bender or something). He canceled the order.
DoorDash offered a free express order so we ordered my ramen for a third time. It took forever to get here. I had a crappy day at work & my elderly cat is sick so | joked that my order was clearly cursed and that the universe is testing me.
This morning, I see how truly cursed my order was. My heart goes out to her loved ones. I cannot imagine the loss. And I hate whatever pressure the driver felt he was under from DoorDash. No food order is worth someone”

An entire community and family are left traumatized and devastated by a driver killing a pedestrian, and as a society we are okay with them walking free as long as they cooperate with police and aren’t detectably drunk/high?
