Baby manager me also used to call myself an umbrella, but these days I say sieve + funnel. Not all information is equally important, so 1) filter out the stuff your ppl need to know (sieve), and then 2) share it at the right rate/flow so they can apply it effectively (funnel).

Ugh, I've lived through this far too many times in tech, and I'm so tired of it.

Meanwhile, never doing the work to examine how the systems in place are failing or straight up disadvantageous to people who don't share the majority experience.

Obvious to you is not the same as obvious, especially to someone who is in the minority and doesn't share context with you.

It's all a farce. Hire the person, let them fail, rinse, repeat. Publish workplace equity reports that make your demographic stats look marginally good while simultaneously pointing out that DEI doesn't work, because if it worked, then these people wouldn't struggle so hard to be successful.

Exactly! I would get so restless with only 1-2 hobbies. Plus, so many skills are transferable! eg. Cake decorating and drywall finishing.

This is exactly how I feel whenever I think I might want to post on social media about my hobbies. Last month alone I've:
Baked 2 novelty birthday cakes, built a medicine cabinet, heat pressed some T-shirt designs, crocheted some toys, painted a mural, and designed elementary school curriculum.

Will also add: if you're having a goblin day (like I am right now), then there's no shame in slapping cheese on that tortilla and popping it in the microwave for a few seconds.
