I love all of Tarantino’s movies, like how they’re about always uplifting messages about friendship and treating each other with kindness

Brian May's Red Special: A Short History
YouTube video by five watt world Brian May's Red Special: A Short History

One of my favorite true stories in music history is how when he was a kid Queen's Brian May decided he wanted an electric guitar, but since he couldn't afford to buy a good one he and his father built one against all established principles and out of random junk.

And nothing else sounds like it.

Sending a positivity boost to my good friend @queenira.bsky.social this morning. Hope the universe shines down upon you to reveal goofy kittens and anime authors with superpowers.

If I had a nickel for every time a 90’s cartoon character’s voice very clearly switches to Jim Cummings during the song…

Studio Ghibli fell in love with this film and gave its director a movie deal. Master animators like Yuri Norstein call it a favorite.

Its name is Father and Daughter, and we've explored its story:

Always wondered how to put earrings on characters without earlobes.
Excellent as always!

That’s another piece of the puzzle: despite watching this in 1998, I distinctly remember it being shown not on a TV but a projector screen. Not the same kind of film strip that required moving each slide one by one, but definitely outdated technology from decades past.

Thanks Amon, I searched that whole shutter stock page and couldn’t find the title amidst all the tags.

So frustrating when it’s….not necessarily Lost Media, but not-very-well-archived media

So yeah, if anyone knows the name of this character or who produced this, hit me up!

I remember the crocodile refers to the mystery as β€œThe Case of the Disappearing Ice Cube”, but I don’t think that was the name of the film itself

I know the description in these clips says 1990s, but the quality of the footage really makes me think this was made in the 70s.

Exhibit A: Just look at how the kids are dressed!

Did anybody else see this short film in science class? A 70s animation/live action blend where a detective alligator determines what happens to a melted ice cube.

There are lots of clips from it on Shutterstock (with no audio), but no info on the title or who produced it.

87. Beck: Mongolian Chop Squad

Watched this for a recommendation exchange with @noahclue.bsky.social, and I can see why this one's a classic. Liked how well it mixed a coming of age story with the struggles of the music industry and both the dub and its songs were really solid (1/2)

It would have taken any other director every ounce of will power NOT to make Bill Murray’s character in Fantastic Mr. Fox a GROUNDHOG.

Another reason we’ll still be enjoying this film decades from now

But even so, the fact that we're all acting like we got a callback audition is a small bit of solidarity and camaraderie that we really need as a species right now πŸ˜†
