Those videos from the White House are absolutely chilling
We have to allow ourselves to imagine what could come next. US arming Russia? Sanctions against Ukraine?

I cannot stress how awesome buy nothing groups are. For those who donβt know, theyβre hyper local Facebook groups that give and share free items with community members. In adjacent connection groups, they also ask for/offer free skills/time/resources. Join one!!

Step 5- be consistent. Your community can only help if they know who you are. Show up, and engage. Make a hate tax for yourself where you can only complain if you did something for a cause that week. We are so much bigger than the leading 1%, letβs show them. 7/7

Step 4- connect others. Make a list of people you know and what resources theyβre willing to share so you can connect them if you see someone in need. Are they in healthcare/law/any trade and willing to work sliding scale or pro bono? Can people repair things or have niche skills? 6/7

Step 3- know your neighbors. You can be in a symbiotic community with people you donβt agree with on everything or like. Shop at local businesses, form a book club, join a neighborhood group, make chitchat with your neighbors, know your leaders, volunteer for campaigns 5/7

organizations/committees that need your skills. Find ones that fit your interests that have local chapters, and regularly meet. Use VolunteerMatch, Facebook groups, find local chapters of national orgs 4/7

Step 1- know your resources! What are you good at that youβre willing to share, do, or give? (E.g.,Time, a spare room, a ride somewhere, repairing clothing, pro bono services, expertise/knowledge in something, creative talent) 3/7

Organization is a democratic strategy that helps people with shared interests or values come together to solve problems and create change. Organizers help people mobilize their resources and turn them into power 2/7
