The comet's bright nucleus is visible on the right side, glowing intensely white, and it tapers off into a soft, elongated greenish tail stretching diagonally across the image. The tail has a smooth gradient, with subtle shifts in tone, suggesting the presence of different materials like gas and dust being expelled by the comet. The green color could indicate the presence of diatomic carbon (C2) or cyanogen, which are common in cometary comas and tails. The stars in the background are slightly streaked, which suggests that the camera was tracking the comet rather than the stars, leading to this motion blur effect on the stars. This technique is typical for capturing clear images of a comet that might otherwise move out of frame during a long exposure. A series of blue, orange, and white blobs are contrasted by the black background of space. At the center is a bright orange blob, which has two blue linear features connected to it that are pointing to 9 o’clock and 6 o’clock, and hazy blue dots near 12 o’clock. Several orange blobs form a separated arc long the left side. Several more are present in a small grouping on the right, but are closer to the central galaxy than those on the left. Below the central galaxy are two short lines, one is horizontal and one vertical, and neither appear to be fully connected to the central galaxy. A few very faint red dots are visible near the edges.

Some spiders build complex silk webs to catch prey. Hubble captured a similar effect in space: A massive galaxy (center) merging with dozens of other galaxies. Look closely to find faint galaxies that look like lines that are part of the “web.”
