I have a much younger cousin who is trans, who was at today’s family party - as well as older relative(s) who haven’t been in touch in over a decade & had no clue who he was when they saw him. Had to bust out one of my favorite phrases, “You don’t have to understand, you just have to be respectful.”

I’m not much of a kid person, but I gotta say, it does feel kinda gooey when a little kid trusts and loves you implicitly and wants to include you in their shenanigans. This message brought to you by my nephew’s 2nd birthday party today.

Some things never change 😊

This probably sounds goofy, but I’m absolutely terrified of the traffic patterns in the town I just moved to this weekend, so I waited til stupid o’clock so there wouldn’t be any traffic to take a little joyride up the main road and try to shake off my driving nerves a bit. I think it helped! Bleh.

Quite frankly I’d part with a shameful amount of money for lightly modernized or even just straight ports of Guitar Hero 1-3 and 80s.

My brother in law thought it would be funny to ‘challenge’ me to put Pepper X sauce in my lunch. Son, I don’t know who you think you’re talking to, I’ll drink it if you wanna test me 😁

The social internet progressing past IRC was a mistake

Taking what is probably my last-ever trip on the LIRR and somebody poured absolutely an entire large hazelnut coffee all over every possible inch of the floor of this train car. Watching everybody doing duck waddles trying to get through to a seat without becoming coated in it. Delightful. Stunning.

My mom was the one who put me on to the Beastie Boys - she grew up in NYC at the same time they came up, and they had a big influence on her. She died shortly before MCA did, and I said that it was just as well, because she wouldn’t want to live in a world without the Beasties - only kind of a joke.

Beastie Boys’ 2004 “To The 5 Boroughs” is largely a criticism of Bush-era political garbage, and I love it with all my heart, but listening to it now is making me so sad about where we are today. Anyway, MCA forever 🩷

I am so, so grateful to have been a kid in school before chromebooks/laptops were a thing, let alone a requirement; I remember teachers beginning projects by asking, show of hands, how many of you have internet access at home? to plan computer lab time.

In researching life in the town I’m about to be moving to, I’ve found out that there’s an official LFC supporters chapter that meets up like 20 minutes from my new place - but they seem to coordinate exclusively via Facebook 😭
