And this is just for Nintendo games, voice acting in many available languages is actually very common for aaa western releases. Portal 2 for example has plenty of dubs, so does god of war 2018, Spider-Man 2018, etc… maybe not all 10 but we don’t NEED all 10, many people would be satisfied with 2

Well, donkey Kong bonanza has dubs for 12 languages… though just for Pauline, and iirc the talking flower from Mario wonder is also dubbed into all available languages.

Botw, totk and, age of calamity have voice acting in at least 8 different languages, and unlike Mario they have plenty of voices

theres so many different games with just japanese and english va, and as the biggest franchise in the world they should be able to more than afford to dub in all languages when other AAA games are able to... its just that they arent given the required budget

another good example is Mega Man ZX on the DS, the game had voice acting in japanese but rather than dubbing it or leaving the game with it's original japanese voices in the english release, they instead opted to just silence all the characters.

it often feels like some companies who cant afford to do multilingual dubbing would just rather have no voices at all in place of that because i guess they think players would be turned off by hearing japanese voices in their games? This was a bigger problem in the 2000s than now though

what gets me about wario land shake it is all the characters already have voice actors they already paid to make sounds

maybe the game would've had japanese VA only but Wario has no actual dialogue so having to find him a japanese voice wouldnt have been an issue

Even as someone whos okay with some games not having voice acting, why the hell would you animate the scene like this and NOT give it voice acting?? This feels really uncanny.
