Umm, who wudda thunk? We've been pointing this out clear pattern for a long time. And it should cause some concern to #SchoolVoucher advocates that their agenda still doesn't have popular support, but is instead advanced by elites and politicians, not voters. education.indiana.edu/ceep/educati...

Strict rules can foster calm classrooms. But some students pay the price An Indiana charter school network has won praise for its strong academics. But some students with disabilities struggle to follow the school system's discipline policies.

@npr.org does more that its share of puff pieces on the #SchoolChoice industry. Citing raw data on performance tells us nothing, & is in fact misleading. And it's not just special needs student who "pay the price." But good to hear from @federicowaitoller.bsky.social www.npr.org/2025/09/25/n...

IMHO, the new federal policy effectively penalizes states that don't adopt the universal school choice scheme.

The global link between food insecurity and student achievement - Large-scale Assessments in Education Food insecurity remains a crucial issue across the globe, including in developed countries. In this study, we examined the relationship between food insecurity and student math achievement globally. We used novel, student-level data from about half a million students in 65 countries that participated in the Program for International Student Assessment (PISA) 2022. We applied three-level hierarchical linear regression models to analyze the data. Without an exception across countries, we found a consistent relationship between food insecurity and student achievement which remains robust after accounting for student and school demographics and socioeconomic status. Students who experience the most severe food insecurity fall behind their food-secure counterparts by approximately two academic years. This substantial achievement gap necessitates profound policy response on a global scale.

Study from @ycanbola.bsky.social documents a "consistent relationship between food insecurity & student achievement [even] after accounting for student & school demographics and socioeconomic status." @saragoldrickrab.bsky.social largescaleassessmentsineducation.springeropen.com/articles/10....

Most new voucher recipients didn't come from an NC public school, new data shows It's unclear whether the students who didn't attend a public school last year attended a private school or homeschool or were newcomers to the state.

As #SchoolVoucher program expands in NC, state finds fewer than 1 in 10 (8.4%) students transferred from public school. Could be some were new to NC, or been homeschooled. Or that like in so many other states, IT'S JUST A SUBSIDY FOR FAMILIES ALREADY IN PRIVATE SCHOOLS www.wral.com/story/most-n...
